From Josh McKoon, R nominee Georgia State Sentate District 29

I just wanted to take a few moments to say thanks to all of you in the Facebook Group for your support of my campaign for State Senate. You have volunteered your time, donated money and provided encouragement to me over the last 13 months of the campaign. We achieved the first step of this campaign, to be the Republican nominee for State Senate District 29.

Now as we look to the general election in November, I will be calling on all of you again to help us in the final 100 days of this campaign to elect me as your next State Senator.

I have learned in this campaign that no one accomplishes anything like what we have alone. It has taken so many people lifting me up, telling their neighbors and supporting us to get us to this point. I am so grateful for your help.

If you are able to help us as we prepare for the Fall election with a campaign contribution, I thank you for that you can give here:

We will be in touch in the days to come with more campaign news and how you can be a part of our general election effort. But for now I just want to say thank you.

Regards,

Josh

From Mike Keown, winner of Republican primary and opponent to Sanford Bishop:

The response to our win in the Republican primary has been huge! Winning with 80.9% of the vote in a three man race made a statement that we are ready and able to take on and defeat Sanford Bishop. People throughout the 2nd Congressional district have hope for the first time in a long time that they can have a Congressman who will truly represent SW Georgia.

It was clear that Sanford Bishop was expecting my win.  Several months ago, the City of Coolidge where I was Mayor for four years, and the Thomas County School Board where I served for 14 years, received open records requests from some law firm.  They wanted everything that I ever did.  That is fine with me.  My time in public service is an open record.

Less than 24 hours after the primary, Sanford's Press Secretary published an article using some of that information on the official congressional website and sent it to the Thomasville Times Enterprise. We fired back.  Take a look at the news on my website. Bishop Uses Taxpayer Funds for Attack Piece (

Recently received from Randy Kitchens, one of our members who is running for office:

Friends,

Some of you may have heard I have decided to seek public office.  I am an independent and feel part of the problem we have in politics is the 2 party system.  In my opinion, too much money and power is controlled or influenced by 2 political parties.  Like many Americans, I’ve gone to the poll to vote the lesser of 2 evils, a Republican or a Democrat.  There are Americans that would rather not vote than vote for someone they do not believe is good for America.

I have been dismayed at the number of lies and misdirection we get from elected officials everyday.  I am even more saddened to find few elected officials from the “opposition” party are willing to speak out against the lies and misdirection.  Maybe lying has become the preferred method of dealing with issues.  Few, if any, are willing to make the hard choices, for fear it will disrupt their election chances the next year.  Thus, the same issues facing Columbus, Georgia and the United States never truly seem to go away.

George Washington, my childhood hero, said, “I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs, that honesty is the best policy.”

When two individuals or groups disagree but say nothing for fear of offending the other, neither learns to understand the other’s perspective.
